IRTE Skills Challenge Sponsor Freeway Fleet Systems has equipped competing engineers with mobile devices at the annual event taking place in Bristol this week. Participants can use the devices to complete vehicle inspections digitally using Freeway’s mobile app that replaces paper in the workshop.
The IRTE Skills Challenge, which was formed to find the engineering stars working in the bus and coach sectors, is being hosted by the S&B Automotive Academy with over 60 competitors from around the UK.
“A key component of the competition is the skill of carrying out an engineering inspection and this must be done in accordance with the DVSA standard,” says Patrick Tandy, MD of Freeway. “Inspections have traditionally been completed on paper, but bus and coach operators are now switching to paperless working. We are delighted to be able to work with IRTE to enable competitors to use the latest technology by working digitally on a Freeway tablet.”
The Freeway digital platform and inspection is accredited by the DVSA under the Earned Recognition scheme that promotes the transition to digital compliance.
Freeway has been providing asset management software to the UK bus industry for more than 25 years.
